Description: In October, 1758, General Robert Moncton destroyed the Acadian town of Grimross, (Gagetown, New Brunswick) on the St. John River. Many Acadians died during the raid. Survivors fled up the St. John River to the Miramichi and to Madawaska. This image is the only known contemporary depiction of the deportation of Acadians.
